How Great Is Our God-DVD
I’ve seen this DVD, or parts of it, several times, and every time I am reminded of how small and insignificant I am and how giganormous (my word) God is.
How Great Is Our God awes me. How Great Is Our God amazes me. How Great Is Our God leaves me speechless (which is a pretty amazing feat) every time I see it.
Louie Giglio has found a way to show how small and insignificant we are compared to the entire universe. He helps earthlings—selfish, self-interested, and self-absorbed as we are—to look at the world from another perspective.
The DVD is not a movie. There is no villain, and the hero is Jesus Christ for sure. It really has no story line per se, except the story of redemption of a fallen race. Yet it’s far more than a speech or a sermon, and it feels as if I’m diminishing its value to call it a “presentation.” Louie Giglio is engaging and very passionate about his subject matter. His slides are awesome, and he has amassed a wealth of knowledge and has a great interest in science. Before you get scared about the whole science thing, you have to know that I wish Louie Giglio was my science teacher, at least when it comes to planets, galaxies, and space. Louie has a way of helping me understand concepts that I definitely missed in science class. It’s not just the facts, though; it’s how those facts relate to God’s awesome nature and matchless love.
Another very interesting aspect of this DVD is that it will capture the attention of viewers from 12 (maybe even younger) and up. Giglio’s style is engaging, and his examples are common enough that they can be understood by anyone. He uses his sense of humor to keep everyone engaged and interested.
So why should you watch this DVD, or give it to someone you love? Answer these questions honestly.
Do you tend to think, It’s all about me? Now, you may not say those words, but you wake up in the morning and your primary concern is how you feel.
When someone does something dumb or wrong, do you tend to think the worst? Do you think that they did it on purpose? Or that they wanted to do you harm?
When you go to your place of worship, are you primarily concerned with your own preferences, rather than being others- or Christ–focused?
If your answers were yes, then you should get this DVD.
Another reason to get and watch the DVD is that Louie helps the audience understand that God is in complete control. When it comes down to it, we all want to know and believe that even though we can’t handle all that comes our way, God can.
